Our Rock Candy "Crystals"

 We had fun with science!

We had been learning about stalagmites and I did not have 100 years to form one to show the munchkins how they form so.....

We did Rock Candy Crystals!

Yes they are different but it was a great way to end our book!

We went to Science Bob
and followed his instructions for the "crystals".
After 6 days this is what our control jar sticks looked like.

After 6 days in the sugared up green jar this is what we got...

He was not so sure about leaving out sugar and water for a few days then eating it but...

Belle chomped down with no issues!

She (later Michael Jr agreed) thought it tasted yummy!!

Here was the inside of the jar after we emptied out the syrup.

Almost looked like a candy cave.

Here are some of the crystals on the side of the jar.

This was great for the discussion on how the sugar crystals actually look under a microscope.

Couldn't have been that bad of an experiment since Michael Jr is trying it again!
